This Privacy Policy explains how the AI Reply Chrome Extension (the "Extension") handles the information you use while generating replies for emails on Gmail and Outlook.

We are committed to user privacy and transparency. The core principle of this Extension is that you retain control over your data, and we, the extension creators, do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal or email data.

1. 🛡️ Data Controller and Ownership

• You are the Data Controller: When you use this Extension, you are the controller of the email data and the API keys you provide.
• API Key and LLM Service: The Extension facilitates a direct connection between your browser and the Large Language Model (LLM) service provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) using your personally provided API key.
• Data Processing by LLM Provider: The processing of your email data for reply generation purposes is governed by the terms of service and privacy policy of the LLM service provider that you have an account with. You are responsible for reviewing and agreeing to their policies.

2. 📝 Information We Handle and How It Is Used

The Extension handles two categories of information, but neither is stored by the Extension creator.

A. User-Provided LLM API Key

• Information Handled: Your LLM Service API key.
• Use: This key is used exclusively within the Extension on your local machine to authenticate and authorize requests to the LLM service for reply generation.
• Storage Location: The API key is stored locally within your browser's local storage or a similar secure local mechanism provided by the Chrome Extensions API (e.g., chrome.storage.local). It is not transmitted to or stored on any server controlled by the Extension creator.

B. Email Content

• Information Handled: The text of the emails from Gmail or Outlook that you select or input into the Extension for reply generation.
• Use: This data is used solely as the input prompt that is sent, along with your API key, directly to the LLM service provider you have configured, to generate the response.
• Storage Location: The email content is not stored or logged by the Extension or the Extension creator. It is processed transiently in your browser memory for the purpose of creating the API request.
